Data used to classify blocks for both layers include:2020 U.S. Census blocks contribute the geometry to the context dataset.Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics (LEHD) Origin-Destination Employment Statistics (LODES) data from the U.S. Census provides 2022 employment data at the block level.U.S. Census provides 2020 population data at the block level.Washington State Current Parcels (2025) provides parcel-level data on land use using Department of Revenue land use codes. This is provided by the Washington State Parcels Project.Intersection data was created by WSDOT from overlaying all public roadway datasets in Washington with cleanup to remove double counted intersections.City population data for 2025 was obtained from Washington Office of Financial Management. Moreover, the segment uses block length data created by WSDOT by overlaying all public roadway datasets in Washington and performing data cleanup.A description of how blocks and segments were initially classified based on quantitative data is available in the Land Use Context Classification report and WSDOT Segment Land Use Context Classification report.Data stewards made additional adjustments based on feedback from subject matter experts, the land use context classification definitions, and other information not included in the first step of classification based on quantitative data such as university locations.
