Description: The Washington State Freight and Goods Transportation System (FGTS) classifies freight corridors by modes in Washington state based on annual freight tonnage moved, including truck, rail, and waterway freight corridors. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) designates and updates the FGTS every two years. This dataset shows the truck freight corridors classified under the FGTS system, including state highways, ferry routes, city streets, and county roads. For the 2025 FGTS T-1 and T-2 Corridors (routes carrying more than 4 million tons annually), truck volume data and estimated tonnage no older than June 2021 is required for reporting. To ensure accurate and reliable Strategic Freight Corridor information, data older than June 2021 will not qualify for T-1/T-2 designation. As a result, gaps are being seen in the strategic truck freight corridor network: gaps with outdated or no data to support a classification. Therefore, segments previously classified as T-1/T-2 corridors not meeting these updated reporting requirements are listed as GAP in the FGTSClass field for the 2025 FGTS. There are also a small number of county roads classified as NC (Non-Classified) at the time of reporting. These NC roads are Non-Strategic Corridors (T-3, T-4 and T-5) that were not validated by the counties at the time of submission and will be finalized prior to inclusion in the 2027 FGTS. Two other datasets are also available and published for FGTS system, including Freight and Goods Transportation System of Washington – Rail Corridors, and Freight and Goods Transportation System of Washington – Waterway Corridors.
